CARL F. BUCHERER Vintage Chronograph Anakin Skywalker TUGSTEN
What a BIG BOY! The Carl. F. Bucherer Anakin Skywalker is a true collectors piece. In the 1970s Omega produced to chunky chronographs (reference 145.023). These timepieces, like many other Omegas, got the Chuck Maddox treatment, and are commonly known as the Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader. Each variant has a large angular case, almost helmet-like, with the classic manual winding caliber 861 movement also used in the Omega Speedmasters of the same period. The case has a octagon shape consisting of a two-piece construction. This beautiful WRISTCLASSIC comes with 44 mm case in great vintage condition. It offers a fairly wide-set bezel that gives this watch a nice presence. The dial is in perfect condition with 3 subregister. The simple Bucherer-logo alongside the clean indexes and the orange faded stophand are harmonious and well balanced. This is a real beauty, was much rarer than the Omega version. Bucherer is one of Europe largest jewelers, like Türler or Tiffany. They co-made alot of watches back in the days, with Omega and other brands. No wonder that this version has a replacement crown by Omega. In total this watch brings everything you would be looking for in a vintage watch: great history and a cool reference to Star Wars, a highly respected cal. 861 movement and a chunky and totally 70s case! The rarity of each is likely an influence, and nicknames certainly don’t hurt the cool factor either.
