ESKA Flat Bezel 1940s

This is a beautiful ESKA Flat Bezel from the early 40s. A truly beautiful and stunning example of a vintage watch from a small watch manufacture. Special feature on this watch is the flat bezel with a diameter of 3 mm. The flat bezel gives the watch a nice presence and the watch wears itself bigger than the 34 mm diameter of the case. The simple Eska-logo alongside the silver indexes and dolphin hands are harmonious and well balanced. The dial shows a beautiful patina with some spots. The servicehistory is unknow, therefore a service is advised. In total it is a unique piece you will probably not find again. A perfect gents dress watch or for casual wearing. This is a rare and beautiful timepiece in great condition. ESKA is a small swiss brand mostly only collectors know about. Because of the small company itself these watches were only made in small numbers.

ESKA is one of the smaller, lesser-known watch brands. At the end of the World War I in 1918, the economic upswing led to the creation of a number of watch-making companies. One of them was Sylvan Kocher & Cie. S.A. of Grenchen. Amongst its many brand names, Kocher registered “Eska,” the phonetic spelling in French of Kocher’s initials “eS Ka.” In 1922, the company was established in the small swiss town, Selzach. ESKA compiled a wide range of wristwatches, included manual and automatic models, as well as watches with full calendars. When it comes to watches with automatic movements, ESKA also made them with the early bumper-style automatic movements. Most of their great watches come from the 1950’s.
