JAEGER LECOULTRE Memovox "tropical" 1950s

This is one of the first JL Memovox "automatic alarm", powered by a cal 815 from the late 1950s. The cal 815 was only introduced in 1956, as the world's first automatic alarm watch! So this watch is not only cool, but also (horologically speaking) historically significant. It comes with a crisp case in great vintage condition. This model measures big 37 mm, which offers a fairly wide-set bezel that gives this watch a nice presence. The dial is the highlight of the watch. It features a outstanding even caramelized patina. The simple Jaeger LeCoultre-logo alongside the beautiful indexes and hands are harmonious and well balanced. The watch features a alarm function working perfectly fine. The crowns are original without the Jaeger-LeCoultre-logo, since this is one of the first generation pieces. This WRISTCLASSIC is powered by a caliber K815 movement, running well and keeping time. This LeCoultre Memovox is a classic late 50s early 60s timepiece with a lot of style and in great condition. It’s a true WRISTCLASSIC with perfect proportions and timeless styling.

Jaeger LeCoultre is one of the most known and respected manufactures of watches. Founded in 1833 by the Brothers Charles-Antoine and François-Ulysse LeCoultre in Vallée de Joux, Switzerland, Jaeger-LeCoultre had a huge input on the history of watchmaking. Starting with the famous “douplan”-movement to the “Reverso” up to the great complications and endless calendars Jaeger-LeCoultre left its mark in all the different sections of the watchmaking-history.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox, with its revolutionary alarm function, was first introduced in 1949 and evolved over the next few decades.

Why buying a vintage watch?

There are many great reasons to buy a vintage watch. Every watch we sell here at WRISTCLASSICS has its own story. Over the years, with every scratch, dent and aging of the dial, they have become unique timepieces of their own. This exact watch you are looking at now, once brought a lot of joy to the first owner with the purchase years ago. And now many years later this vintage watch will bring the same joy to your life. With buying a vintage watch you are showing your commitment to protecting the enviroment, instead of supporting the mass production of modern fashion watches.

I hope this helps you with your decision of buying a vintage watch here at WRISTCLASSICS.
