Universal Genève “Tank” gold plated - full set

Here we have beautiful Universal Genève square “Tank” in almost NOS condition, a wonderful example of a classic and simple watch design. This beautiful vintage watch comes crisp-cased with sharp edges. Dating to the 1960s this classic model measures 29 mm x 29 mm. The dial is allover in clean and good condition. The only sign of use is a small scratch on the dial between 7 and 8 o'clock, what is probably the reason why this watch never got sold in the store. The simple UG-logo alongside the gold indexes and beautiful hands are harmonious and well balanced. The date is unusually set between 4 and 5 o´clock. The crown is original with the appropriate UG-logo. This WRISTCLASSIC is powered by a calibre Universal Genève 1107.1 manual winding movement, running strong and keeping time well. The watch comes with an original leather strap in unworn condition same as the gold plated buckle. With new and unused papers and box it becomes the full set. This UG Tank is a rare timepiece in unworn condition you will not find again. It’s a true WRISTCLASSIC with perfect proportions, timeless styling and the full set.

In 1894 in Le Locle Numa-Emile Descombes and Ulysse Georges Perret founded a watchshop and watch manufacture. In the early 20th century UG specialized in making chronographs. In the 1930s UG produced a wide range of different chronos, as for example the Compur- or Compax-series. Amongst other things UG developed in the 1950s the so called Microrotor-movement, which featured the watch called Polerouter in the 1950s and 1960s. The Polerouter and the Microrotor-movement are beside the lots of complicated Chronographs the most famous products by UG. In 1989 Universal Genève was bought by the group called Stelux.
