UNIVERSAL GENEVE Calatrava Ref. 212301/2

Here we have beautiful Universal Genève Ref. 212301, a wonderful example of a 50s and timeless watch design. This beautiful vintage watch comes crisp-cased with sharp edges and unpolished. Dating to the 1950s this classic model measures big 35 mm. The dial is allover in clean and good condition with a beautiful small subsecond. The simple UG-logo alongside the indexes and beautiful hands are harmonious and well balanced. The crown is original with the appropriate UG logo. This WRISTCLASSIC is powered by a  cal 1200 handwind movement running strong and keeping time well. The watch comes with a handcrafted leather strap in unworn condition. This UG is a rare timepiece in untouched condition you will not find again. It’s a true WRISTCLASSIC with perfect proportions, timeless styling and a famous history.

In 1894 in Le Locle Numa-Emile Descombes and Ulysse Georges Perret founded a watchshop and watch manufacture. In the early 20th century UG specialized in making chronographs. In the 1930s UG produced a wide range of different chronos, as for example the Compur- or Compax-series. Amongst other things UG developed in the 1950s the so called Microrotor-movement, which featured the watch called Polerouter in the 1950s and 1960s. The Polerouter and the Microrotor-movement are beside the lots of complicated Chronographs the most famous products by UG. In 1989 Universal Genève was bought by the group called Stelux.

Why buying a vintage watch?

There are many great reasons to buy a vintage watch. Every watch we sell here at WRISTCLASSICS has its own story. Over the years, with every scratch, dent and aging of the dial, they have become unique timepieces of their own. This exact watch you are looking at now, once brought a lot of joy to the first owner with the purchase years ago. And now many years later this vintage watch will bring the same joy to your life. With buying a vintage watch you are showing your commitment to protecting the enviroment, instead of supporting the mass production of modern fashion watches.
