BREITLING Duograph Ref. 762 Venus 179 Split Second Chronograph - 1950s

There are rare watches - there are very rare watches - but this is an extremly rare watch! Here we have Breitling Ref. 762 Duograph, a wonderful example of a rare and complicated timepiece by Breitling. Breitling have produced beautiful mechanical chronographs in the 50s and 60s and the Ref. 762 is surely the most desirable out there. The Breitling Duograph was introduced in 1944. This beautiful example comes with a 36mm case made out of 18k solid gold. The dial is in good vintage condition with 2 big subregisters and a beautiful golden split second handset. The simple Breitling-logo alongside the "Duograph" writing and aged indexes are harmonious and well balanced. This WRISTCLASSIC is powered by an incredible Venus 179 Rattrapante movement, running strong and keeping time well - being serviced recently. Attesting to the exceptional quality of this movement used by Breitling, split-seconds models using the same base calibre were issued in modern times by Panerai, Girard Perregaux and Parmigiani. The split function is activated by clicking the crown. Breitling are nearly unique (alongside Patek Philippe) to have used this kind of method. The 'PAT' inscription along with the Swiss flag on the crown attest to their patent in this respect. This Breitling Duograph Ref. 762 chronograph is one of the rarest chronoraphs out there and in this untouched condition an absolute unique timepiece. It’s a true WRISTCLASSIC with perfect proportions, timeless styling, and a great reference to watchmaking history. This is the real deal, everything you would want in a vintage chronograph.
