IWC Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar Ref. 3750 1986 – Full Set
This is a true and nice example of vintage luxury. The IWC Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar is from 1986. The case is made out of 18k solid gold. This was probably one of the most luxury and expensive watches available in the 1980s. The watch is allover in outstanding condition. The case shows only small signs of use. The IWC Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar was designed by Kurt Klaus and launched in 1985. This example was sold in 1986 and is thus one of the early versions. The movement is based on a Valjoux cal. 7750 automatic movement, running well and keeping time. The perpetual calendar mechanism was the first ever made in which all the calendar indications, including the moonphase, were coordinated via the crown, so that in order to set the watch you only had to pull out the crown and advance the day indication – the day, month, leap year, and year indications, along with the moon, would all advance together.
This watch comes with everything a collector is looking for: first hand, original box and paperwork, original invoice dating back to 1986 and complete service-history. There is nothing missing on this beautiful timepiece. This is a true WRISTCLASSIC by an iconic brand. These kinds of watches were the best of the best in terms of quality.
The International Watch Company has been founded by Ariosto Jones, an American watchmaker and engineer in 1868. In 1901 IWC had already 190 employees. From day one IWC built high quality watches. The most iconic watch by IWC is the Grande Complication. It contains 659 mechanic pieces, among them 71 rubies. It has 17 functions and 12 patents, a perpetual calendar for the next 500 years and the perpetual moon-phase display. Other collectable watches are the IWC Portuguese, IWC Da Vinci, IWC Pilot's Watches, IWC Portofino, IWC Aquatimer and IWC Ingenieur. After two bankruptcies, IWC came back on the road of success.
