OMEGA Speedmaster Ref. 145.022-69 Meister double signed - 1969

Here we have a beautiful OMEGA Speedmaster Ref. 145.022 from 1969 with a rare dial signed by Meister. Now, how do you prove the authenticity of a Meister signed Speedmaster in times when Omega does not issue any more extracts after the big scandal at the Phillips auction. Well, I would say provenance. The watch came from its original owner in my hometown of Konstanz. Considering it's only 50 minutes from Konstanz to Zurich, it's obvious where you would buy an Omega Speedmaster in 1969. After buying it from Meister in Zurich, the watch was sold a few years later at the Konstanz Yacht Club to a good friend of the original owner (Mr. H.). Now I was able to acquire the watch from his son. It is a wonderful example of a classic and timeless watch design. This beautiful vintage watch comes with a crisp case in good vintage condition. This classic model dates back to 1969 and measures 40mm. It features a fairly wide bezel that gives this watch a nice presence. The dial is in overall clean condition, with no signs of wear and a very rare double signature by Meister. The simple Omega logo next to the hour markers and beautiful hands is harmonious and well balanced. This vintage watch is powered by a cal. 861 movement, running strong and keeping time well. The watch comes with an original Omega steel-bracelet in nice condition which was replaced over time. This Omega Speedmaster features everything you would be looking for in a vintage chronograph. It’s a true WRISTCLASSIC with perfect proportions, timeless styling, and in great condition perfect for everyday wear. When in 1969 Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin accomplished the first moon landing there were equipped by Omega with the Speedmaster, and this so-called „Moonwatch“ is still regarded as one of the most significant watches in history.

Omega was founded in 1848 in La Chaux-de-Fonds by Louis Brandt. Out of this small watch manufacture grew a large company: In 1894, the famous 19-ligne pocket watch movement was developed and named “Omega”. Omega, as the final letter of the Greek alphabet, stands for the ultimate level in perfection and quality. In the 1930 the company entered into collaboration with the S.S.I.H. (Société Suisse pour l’Industrie Horlogère). Out of this collaboration the Swatch Group developed. Today, Omega is the flagship of this huge company. In 1932, Omega entered its partnership with the Olympics which continues till today. When in 1969 Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin accomplished the first moon landing there were equipped by Omega with the Speedmaster, and this so-called „Moonwatch“ is still regarded as one of the most significant watches in history.
